New Childcare Facility SUNY Fredonia
Pathfinder is providing mechanical, electrical and plumbing design for a new 16,000 sq. ft. building for an on campus Day Care Center.
The HVAC system consists of a high efficiency induction system for ventilation and cooling, and in-floor radiation for heating. Each occupied space will have a temperature sensor controlling the induction cooling system and in-floor radiant heat for environmental control. In-floor radiation will cover the entire building envelope, except within the mechanical room. Ventilation air to each occupied space will be provided by a constant volume, energy recovery central air handler located in the mechanical room. Pathfinder’s approach to the Campus and Community Children’s Center HVAC design will exceed the new NYS Energy Code and Executive Order 111 requirements.
High efficiency equipment will be selected to meet or exceed the energy requirements of Executive Order 111, and to provide points for potential LEED® Silver Certification of the building. In addition to the high-energy efficiency of the equipment, the refrigeration systems selected use R-410A, a non-ozone depleting refrigerant that is also a LEED® requirement.
Pathfinder is providing energy modeling services to confirm building performance for Executive Order 111 and USGBC LEED® Silver compliance.
Plumbing design and engineering includes: ultra low flush fixtures, sanitary sewers and plumbing systems to toilet rooms and plumbing systems for new HVAC and support equipment.
Electrical engineering services includes high efficiency lighting layout, exit signage and fire detection and alarm systems, electrical power distribution, power connections to HVAC equipment, wire management for telephone/data cabling, security system and video conferencing rough in, and clock system.
